37. Eyeglasses

☃❄  Oddly... it hardly snows this year, that said, it slightly snowed a few days ago, I meant to say, before Christmas day...  As soon as I looked on the coating of snow in all directions, a winter woods ❄🌲🌲🌲 comes into my head...  When it snows, we people might like to look on a snowing scenery in the woods, photographing the falling snowflakes that look like a popcorn and the snowy-white sight...

A snow is cold, but yet snowflakes look strangely warm and soft in my eyes, if only there is devoid of a chilly snowstorm...  It sightly snowed yesterday evening for the second time this year, in 2020.  I saw the falling snowflakes in the darkness through a window; it was dancing in the air with a howling wind. The howling wind was colliding with other buildings to which it was closely apart from. The howling wind of last night might be the sound of trees around, for the surrounding of my house is encircled by woods and fields I live a remote area from a loud and crowed city.

And then when I woke up the next morning, the snow slightly piled up all around... The wind is still howling outsideㅡsomewhere else... ; cannot even see its path... , which looks uncanny.  While, I'm writing this in the warmth, listening the howling wind that stands in contrast to the warmth, and thanking that I'm in the warmth of my home now...

In a sense, my house is like the Wuthering Heights (novelist: Emily Bronte, 1818~1848, UK) on which the wuthering wind ever blows... Figuratively speaking, the "Wuthering Heights" hints at the protagonist's, Heathcliff's, rough(stormy) life in the book.  In any case, especially whenever early spring comes, I am used to hearing the howling wind here that seems to feel of jealousy of coming spring that way...

Well I would love to be in the snowy forest, and to find a wild bunny in the woods which is covered with a deep snowㅡ lately, I got to like bunnies.  I did not know how cute bunnies were...🐰  I heard that owners of bunnies do not need to give rabbits a bath like dogs, for bunnies always groom themselves, so are not filthy without an unpleasant smell.
On the contrary to this, raising a bunny at home seems not popular yet in my country, what is more, seems extremely picky to raise... Thus if one does not know how to raise pet bunnies as a beginner, then he might lose an adorable bunny soon...

I experienced a kindred case a great while ago, when I did not know how to raise a puppy; it was a palm-sized and spotted...  One day, I received the tiny puppy free of charge from the owner of the puppy who no longer wanted to raise it... At last, I lost it...  I guess the reason of the death would have been the problem of  feeding, after that time, I buried it in the nearby bush...

A Snowy Landscape
A Snowy Landscape

Well when I was in my teens, one day, it snowed heavily, so that the snow was heaped up knee-deep; the snowflakes were a big size as well.  We, my sisters and I, went to a near forest, and took a picture of snowing, and had a snowball fight with a laughter, and made a snowman... ; at times, I miss such a childhood where I lived in that nature..., though everything was not rich in those days...

I remember the one who longed for his childhood; it might have been his homesickness.  He was Marc Chagall (1887~1985, born Russia, but was a Jew), who was a well-know painter. He painted his childhood based on (analytical) Cubism, which Pablo Picasso (Spanish painter, 1881~1973) painted, i.e. the memory of his hometown; for Chagall was in France back then; he moved out to France to study painting more. Paris in France has been a mecca(hub) of painting.

I and The Village, Marc Chagall 1911

In my country,  people call it, "Snow Falling On The Village Of Chagall."  Whenever I look at his paintings, I feel a transcendent space that is not bound by something rules.  Chagall surpassed the limited space, thought, and time, etc. that humans are merely confined by,  such a genre is called, "surrealism"...  His thoughts look very flexible, therein lies a freedom instead of something stereotype(a fixed idea)...

I presume that that Chagall's painting style would be touched by his childhood, for he grew up, looking on manifold circus shows; Russia is famous for circus shows and ballet performances (e.g. the Bolshoi Ballet) such as " the Nutcracker."

Such circus shows would have broken Chagall's stereotype, every time he painted on the canvas. Virtually,  it is very difficult to freely recompose(reorganize) something objects(images), e.g. : portrait, still life, landscape, etc. on the canvas,  for a man's thought and sense are confined by the reality(real images).  In a sense, it seems to me that it is easier to paint such objects as it is, which means like a photo itself, by the realism that is rid a painter's subjective expression.  That said, it does not mean that the genre of realism is easier to paint, is also pretty difficult...; it asks for a painter's professional painting technique.

Even painters feel a pressure what to and how to paint in front of an empty(initialized) canvas... For they should conquer the initialized canvas through their abilities: imagination(creative power), painting techniques, empathy, etc.

When I painted not as an expert painter, but as a beginner, I realized that I was not a talented person to paint, because I was aware of my short creative power; I was not able to surpass something fixed idea on the canvas...  Likewise, creating (or recomposing the original object, its images) is hard as always...

Moreover, if painters have no an outstanding talent, including painting techniques, to re-create the original object(image) on the canvas, he can never paint like Chagall or other prominent painters all over the world,  since an ordinary people's idea and eyes are just confined in real images, is never unique to break a rigid perspective...

In that context, circus shows turn upside down a real space in which people live, and enlarge such a man's confined cognition; e.g. circus performers stand on their hand, and fly in the air, and hop, and turn round and round, and hang upside-down, riding in a swing on the stage, etc.

For this reason, characters in Chagall's works look like circus performers who transcend a realistic and normal limit(space); most of them stand upside down or fly in the air...etc. on the canvas, as below:

It liberates viewers' confined mind and heart to be freed from not only the fixed idea, but also the real world of space and time; his imaginative faculty is pretty bountiful, extraordinaire, and incredibly free like so...

What is more, what I want to say is, this: Chagall also depicted the motif of love; his love toward his beloved(his wife named Bella Rosenfeld; her name sounds like elegant as if a noblewoman) was ardent and remarkable...  His love seems to abound toward her, hence she was painted as a main character in his paintings as well.

Well recently I changed my eyeglasses twice in 2020, since I have begun to blog; it has been a year. It seemed to me that my eyesight was getting worse..., for this reason,  I met an eye doctor a few weeks ago, fearing the blurred vision... in doing so, I doubted that my eyes might have been caused by a severe problem such as a glaucoma which is possible to make people to be a perpetual blind..., for I have felt an unremitting ache(throb) of my eyes... I have never felt such an ache of my eyes in my lifetime...That's why...

Along the way, I made a decision not to use a cell phone, every time I type to blog, so that now I'm using a laptop... I suppose that using a laptop might be able to protect my or one's eyes rather than using a cell phone. Anyhow, those who frequently use an internet-based computer equipment are likely to gain the VDT(Visual Display Terminal) Syndrome that causes people to ache their necks, shoulders, wrists, fingers, and to feel a nausea, headache, and to have a blurred vision like me, and even to deform their necks like a turtle, which means that their necks permanently bend! as below :

But luckily,  just my eyesight was vastly and rapidly aggravated than before... The eye doctor prescribed for new lenses of eyeglasses:

The Prescription
Edited in order to remove my personal information

So now I got to have three eyeglasses:

My Eyeglasses 1

Presumably, I purchased this eyeglasses around 3~5 years ago, now it does not help me to clearly see, namely, my eyesight became worse, so I only put on this, whenever I read books; to say it another way, whenever I closely see. As I remember that this frame of eyeglasses was made by a titanium material... thus, it is very light and more expensive, what is more, lets me feel comfortable, when I wear.

All lenses was coated by a green-tinted like above. Some like to have a blue-tinted lenses; for they frequently use a computer. And some like to simply have an uncoated(colorless) lenses.  When I have to change my eyeglasses' lenses again, I would like to have the blue-tinted lenses this time; I do not know the blue-tinted lenses' price,  probably it will be more expensive.  In my country, universally if one has about $60~$120,  he can buy(including free eye test) eyeglasses enough on the spot; it takes 20~30 minutes.  Plus, every optometrist in the optician's provides an eye test free of charge, using a high-tech medical equipment as similar as eye hospitals do.  So if one who has no specific ophthalmic disorders can buy eyeglasses in the optician's anytime and everywhere, and can meet eye doctors that way, too.

In my case, I wanted to meet an eye doctor in order to check into my ophthalmic disorder and an eye test at the same time.  In general, ophthalmologists recommend that we people should receive an eye test at least once every six months.

I newly bought this eyeglasses in September or October 2020,  because my eyesight worsened, since I have blogged for a year...  Now I cannot vividly see through this eyeglasses..., which means that my eyesight became more worse as much as that,  so now I casually put on this, when I do not read books.

My Eyeglasses 3

Lately(December 2020), I changed lenses of this eyeglasses, my eyesight was corrected, therefore I can see clearly all the things over this new eyeglasses.  But it takes a little time to be adapted to my eyes.  I'm going to put on this, when I go out or when I am home.  For this eyeglasses are not comfortable, when I closely read books (or closely see something), it seems to me that its lenses are corrected for a nearsightedness more.

My Sunglasses

And this is my sunglasses, recently I rarely put on it, for I seldom go out...  A few years ago, I came to know the fact that lenses of sunglasses have the term of validity(expiration date) over the medical news article, so we people should change the lenses of sunglasses regularly.

This sunglasses' lenses were coated to block the UV(ultraviolet), and were corrected the blurred vision at one time. I have never put on a transitional eyeglasses, that is, its lenses are automatically changed; when one is indoor, its lenses are not changed, but when he is outdoor, its lenses are darkened like a sunglasses.

Nowadays, it seems to me that many people in my country wear sunglasses in order to simply show their chic sense for fashion rather than to protect eyes from an ultraviolet.  If they put on sunglasses for the purpose of fashion or beauty, then their eyes are likely to hurt, for I heard that such reckless sunglasses, which is not coated by UV protection and can buy everywhere; so to speak, it is very cheap($10~$20), makes a man's iris(pupil) to hurt; It might be able to absorb the ultraviolet more than to take it off.  Presumably, when people wear such reckless sunglasses, a man's iris is liable to more widely open in the dark lenses of sunglasses, having said that, I don't know an expert knowledge about that not as an eye doctor or an optometrist... In any case, when I took off sunglasses outside, my eyes were in a daze...

People in my country tend to think that they should put on sunglasses to block a blazing sunshine in the summer, but yet not really... We people should wear sunglasses in the winter too, to be exact, the four seasons, every time.

Besides that, people in my country tend to regard those who wear sunglasses as a forward(cheeky) person; it is kind of our country's culture... and do not welcome those who tattoo on their body,  for in general, gang-styled criminals tattoo on their back or whole body in my country.  They typically tattoo the image of  powerful dragons, flowery snakes, skulls...etc.  I'm also afraid of that people who tattoo that images, in fact, whatever it is.

Contact lenses... well most likely, those who are mindful of a beauty tend to wear contact lenses in place of wearing eyeglasses in my country; most people prefer those who are not putting on eyeglasses to those who are wearing eyeglasses; e.g. especially when people should have an interview for a (good) job, or should perform something in front of a camera in a television station, or should date with their beloveds for the first time, or should audition for, or should take a picture... and so on, take off eyeglasses.  Because I heard that the first impression is crucial and unforgettable in a man's memory...

Even some like to wear colorful contact lenses. Yes, I also experienced to temporarily put on colorless contact lenses... for I quite wondered how it would be shown without eyeglasses...  However, I was disappointed to wear contact lenses; if one wants to put on contact lenses, he should not be a lazy person, for should disinfect the lenses every day, unless disinfect, one's eyes are infected by diverse bacteria.

And even I lost contact lenses as well;  contact lenses are prone to be ripped! What about the direct dis-ease on the pupil(iris)! After all, I determined not to put on contact lenses never more.

Nowadays, people in my country desire to correct the blurred vision by ophthalmic surgeries called LASEK( laser-assisted sub-epithelial Keratomileusis) or LASIK(laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis). If one undergoes the surgery, he no longer needs to put on eyeglasses or contact lenses. As I know, its surgery cost is not discounted by a medical insurance, because it comes under a plastic surgery, for beauty, scope in a way, on this account, it will be expensive... In fact, I have no idea about the exact cost, anyway I do not want to undergo the surgery to better my eyesight...  But what if I am faced with the crisis of glaucoma or cataract someday, I might have to undergo surgery...

When I visited the eye hospital, there were many staffs and eye doctors. They checked into my eyesight twice; an optometrist who looked like that checked into my eyesight first, and the other was an expert eye doctor.

And there was an optician's on the first floor inside of the eye hospital. But I didn't visit the optician's, for I have visited a regular optician's shop, which is situated in other place outside of the hospital.

I still feel an ache of my eyes, but it is far better than before. May it is completely recovered...  I decided to prudently care for my eyesight...

For I realized that how precious my eyes are..., and how thankful I can still see, not as a blind...
