14. Intelligence Quotient vs Spiritual Quotient

🌹 Most likely, plenty of people know a renowned fantasy and romance movieㅡ"GHOST(1990)" and its movie OST(Original Sound Track)ㅡ" The Unchanged Melody."

Plus, a great crowd of people have sung the song and have remade it in order to give a novelty, that being said, as I see it, its song may sound like a cliche/commonplace, for it is too famous around the world.

Yes...  I watched the movie once, but I cannot even recall the overt/obvious storyline. For this reason, I googled the plot of the story in brief, even so I cannot understand it well. But, that is okay, because, it is not that I want to describe, though I am going to talk about a similar "love and ghost."

These days, in general everybody(if they are not as an acquaintance mutually) who uses the internet becomes ghosts in the virtual worldㅡthe cyber world. There should not have their own identity, such as: real name, address, gender, age, job, nationality and the like, putting on the mask of the ghost like the well-known musical "The Phantom Of The Opera."

Humans have been dominating by "the machine civilization" like "The Cyber World" and its internet culture that is identical with the example of the Aesop's Fables; the cunning fox was entrapped by his own artifice/ruse.

In such a setting, we people become like the machinery that must not have their own identity, so to speak, ought not to have their own spirit into the machine. What if anyone projects his spirit into, then he may become a victim under the principle of the machinery that continually removes a human's identity and his spirit the same as the machine, by doing so it makes people to have a hardhearted heart from strength to strength as if sociopaths who have no their conscience, for their conscience was seared that is why they can never feel guilty.

As far as I know, psychopaths are a little different from sociopaths, that is to say, the psychopath's conscience cannot "completely" feel guilty that is why they kill others serially. Contrariwise, sociopaths look like an ordinary person(like men in the street), but they also have no their conscience, so that usually they are called a con man/ scammer, robber, rapist, maltreater/abuser, etc., all these things are named "Antisocial Personality Disorder" in the filed of psychiatry. Because, typically the inability to experience regret/guilty is actually one of the diagnostic characteristics of sociopaths or psychopaths.

They are mostly categorized as those who are called politicians, religious leaders(pope, priests, protestant pastors, monks, etc.), business owners(CEO), doctors, scholars, celebrities, or as those who were etched/imprinted a serious trauma in their memory.
In that respect, they are a prominent and an intellectual person, but are a crafty person as much as their high social standing/rank, its power, in our society.

Because, they should have oppressed, trodden others and bled others white to succeed for their successful lives as much as they have become the outstanding characters, as winners, as the strong, harboring the bitter ambition in them as if poisonous snakes to prey frogs(the weak), that is why the rich(developed) countries have exploited a colony(less developed countries) to the bone.

In one sense, that is why we people need EQ(emotional quotient) and SQ(spiritual quotient, Spirituality) that can empathize/sympathize with, in another sense, humanly speaking, IQ(intelligence quotient) is important factor to make a living too.

By the way, AI (Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Robots) system always yields a maximum result/output, the best of best, so that what if something(input) cannot reach to the maximum coverage, and then it(input) must lag/get left behind on and on, that is none other than the world's principle that instigates/inflames people to endlessly venture toward the top of the target, however, its maximum range can never be reached up to the very top level, because time is never subjugated/surrendered by such a humans' labor/effort.

In addition, time never becomes a puppet for humans unlike the technology. In other words, the result of human's work (something its outputs) doesn't coincide with the accumulated/saved up time, so to speak, it turns out an inverse proportion. In response to this, humans are being aged and then must die, even if they have reached to the top level for a little while, producing something novelty and the maximum value.

But yet, there is nothing "newie" and "maximum value" in this world, for everything is just only circulating like a merry-go-round to which it goes round and round and round...

Moreover, someday the maximum value that human have achieved must come to nothing....NOTHING...
As such, humans were also cursed from time.

After all, time wipes out everything except for texts/letters/records, such as something relics/remnants, its reminders. Yes, people call it a history, nevertheless, history is like a phantom as well.

To sum up, the more we people do for, the more we people get left behind out of the peak/climax. Because, no one can conquer time passing. In other words, we human must die by the cursed time.

Meanwhile, behind the virtual world, the cyber world, we people can also protect ourselves, blocking othersㅡ their accounts, so that nobody knows when we will be excluded from. If they unilaterally push "the block button" or "deletion button" right away or any time, then everything that they have done is suddenly erased. Along those lines/like this, a human's sense of identity(something the dignity of man, its value, its presence) is thoroughly being rid like so under the machine civilization.

Beyond that, everything in the cyber world is just ambiguous/vague, for no one can guarantee a "certainty" that drives people to be restless/insecure on and on that is why people are struggling to grab hold of something possibility/probabilityㅡ"what if it does" ㅡamid the uncertainty, that is a "gambling" and "religion."

I remember the book of the drama on the stage:
" Waiting For Godot(1952) " which was written by Samuel Beckett(1906~1989, Ireland). In the book, people await Godot(symbolizes something "Hope" for them, humans), despite he Godot never came to themㅡno one still knows whether he comes or not, and when he comes...

Similarly, today some may fall into despair and some may still await "Godot" to come to them amid that uncertainty.  Having said that, most people might still await "Godot" to come like that they are increasingly addicted to gambling and to having religionsㅡsomething their beliefs and expectations....

But despite all this, recently "the empty tomb of Christ" came into my head, while I was contemplating this uncertaintyㅡ an equivocal wait, an inexplicable anxiety, and a constant frustration, etc.ㅡby which we people are confined in the cyber world (Looking at the big picture, that is this world) where the machinery dominates.

In the cyber world, I have experienced all these things like above, that is like "the empty tomb" where the dead and the living are transformed, so that the dead are transformed into the living, on the contrary, the living are transformed into the dead, like the point of intersection...

The empty tomb
where all our value turned out a rubbish heap
where all our possibilities were trampled
where all our hopes were brutally crushed
where we strictly had to DIE

Was
The cyber world

Therein lies
The our failure,
 The our desperation,
The our rupture,
The our brokenness
The our chasm,
The our emptiness
And
The death....

But there will be
the RESURRECTION as well...

Now,
The dead might become the resurrected spirit
out of the empty tomb...

But yet, the death
may continue...
Until the day...

First time, I made my blog to publicly post the gospelㅡyes, it might have been God's will, for this, I was enormously painful to do it ; I was like the dead who have no any hope.

Now, I was completely freed from the burden that I had to post and spread it, God might also have set me free from, and He might have led me to know this fact in the empty tomb in this way...

In the meantime, I truly, truly, truly realized that I was not apt for posting it; God might also have let me know " it"  to the bone. Accordingly, I permanently deleted all that posts. It will not easy to repost.

Now, I don't even know how long I can blog, whatever else, nor do I know what God wants through, nor do I know what will happen, but He will only knows it, and everything in the world.

" But He knows the way I take..."
Job 23:10

But what I know is, if God wants me to die, I die.
If I perish, I perish...

Lately, I am getting to know someone's spirit who might have been the same as me, and who might have not been the machine behind...about that, I would not like to "say no" at least... but, everything is not seen here except for the tiny screen... Even so, I feel it only by the spirit, something like intuition, but still everything is not sure like the unseen spiritual world the same as the cyber world....

Who knew it would ever happen that I have found the confined spirit in the machine?...No one knew it excluding God Himself alone...

    In that place, now we might want to feel our existence/spirit, the resurrected soul, the spiritual worldㅡ unlike this world, not as the machinery, like this poem that I like;

Do Not Stand  At My Grave And Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep.

I am not there. I  do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet
birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

 Mary Elizabeth Frye

" ...As dying, and behold, we live..."
2 Corinthians 6:9

There, love might bloom like a lavender scent, though it is invisible, uncatchable... but might be scented...

When the lavender makes her own fragrance, the butterfly  might quietly fly to her, then... he might take her violet fragrance... it might be their spirits that are still with.

With the heart,
With the mind,
With the spirit,
          With the soul

 The love
   In lavender...

Christmas Gift

☃️🌲🎁  Whenever it comes back Christmas, some stories flash across my mind with lots of connected images such as Christmas tree, its gifts, its carols, and a house decoration for Christmas... something like that.

And yet I want to tell a warm story, which is widely known, is The Gift of the Magi(1906) that was shortly written by O. HenryㅡHis real name is William Sydney Porter(1862~1910, USA).

Book Cover
Book Cover

He might have chosen the titleㅡThe Gift of the Magiㅡ from the Bible, in other words, the gift of the Magi was for celebrating the birth of Jesus[Christ]. Thus he would also have entitled like that, borrowing its title from the Bible. Because he would have wanted this short story that he wrote to be represented as a moving, warm, and humble love story like the story of the Gift of the Magi, even though the story of the gift of the Magi in the Bible is quite different from his short story. In the teeth of it, he must have been inspired to write this story by the Bible, especially by the word 'gifts' the Magi brought.

The synopsis is this: there was a poor couple. The husband had an inherited wristwatch from his father, but the watchstrap was too worn-out to put on, what is more, he could not change it to a new one, for he had no money to do it. Meanwhile, his wife had a long, glossy, and an attractively beautiful brown hair that was her best attraction.

Beautiful Hair
Beautiful Hair

When Christmas day came, the wife wanted to give a gift to her husband, but she had no money to buy it, in the end, she made a big decision to get her hair cut short, and then after that, s
he only received a chicken feed after selling her charming hair, and thereby she bought the watchstrap that her husband had to change to a new one.

Our lives are the same as the cheap cost she received, which means that we people have done for something, however, its result can turn out not only a zero but also a minus. Since nothing is done whatsoever we people wish that is life...

We humans cannot even bear a grudge against the worst situation in our lives... Because it is not even allowed to grumble like the ruthless slavery and its slaves... ; what is the good of complaining all that?..., and how can such slaves dare stand up to all kinds of inequities against their master?... That is to say, if God is the Creator, then humans are His own slaves whose life can be perished by God or can be saved by God, as such, the Creator might be dominating everything in the world as He only wishes like an abysmal tyrant..., that said, the Bible states that God is love...(Really?)...

Well, these days people might not like wearing a wristwatch, for almost all people have a mobile phone which is already equipped the function of a watch.  Regardless of it, what people put on a watch on the wrist is that they might want to accessorize themselves to be shown more fashionable, more intelligent, more stylish, more mannish (if they are a man), more professional for their business, and the like.  In my eyes, metal watchstraps look more voluptuous and more provocative than other kinds that are made with leather watchstraps.

Wristwatch
Wristwatch

In the meantime, the husband sold his treasurable wristwatch to give a gift to his wife. The purchased gift was none other than the best hairbrush set. He would have wanted to see her comb her beautiful hair with the hairbrush set he had bought.  What a touching and teary story it is! When describing this story, I have a lump in my throat, although this story is utterly fictional...

        What is love?...

Of course, there are countless definitions and wise sayings regarding love what it is, so anyway, it is my view that love is really mysterious, invisible, unreachable, kaleidoscopic, and indefinable... etc., even love looks as if a spiritual and an invisible world like the unknown world...

Firstly,  Scripture(1Corinthians 13: 4~7) defines what love is. Having said that, humanly speaking, no one can practice such a transcendental love. Even it seems to me that the love of Jesus [Christ] is never free-of-charge, but there is the principle of give-and-take as if the circle of cruel business and as though a childish dealing! LOL  In short, it seems that Jesus[Christ] wants humans to be victimized only for the sake of Jesus Himself as same as He was victimized for the ultimate sake of Himselfㅡtrue be told, it seems not for humans, and then He asks the cost of His sacrifice to humans vice versa and unilaterally and unconditionally! Namely, Jesus [Christ] carries out multi roles alone excluding a human rights, which says that He incriminates humans first, then kills humans in return for the sin, in the end, saves humans(only God's people) that is why and that is the Bible says.

Secondly, loads of writers and philosophers have reasoned out and defined the definition of love, and tons of artists and musicians have expressed what love is.  Nevertheless, I think that no people can define love precisely.  In general, we people know the definitions of love; for instance, a family love, an erotic love, a platonic love, and agape love... and so forth.

Thirdly,  a medical circle heartlessly defines love like this:  In their own words, love is simply the reflection of a chemical action under a man's hormone system, its biological system, to which it affects a man's brain or body, we therefore know that especially an erotic love cannot be maintained for a long time, or better yet, it is only possible to sustain within three months minimum or one year maximumㅡit depends on each of couples.

At any rate, everybody will experience the so-called love or will fall in love with even once.  That being said, I cannot even define what love is. Some say it is a simply sexual desire, and some say it is just an opium dream.

According to the Bible, no one is righteous, in other words, no one can love others, for we humans only love 'self' under our inborn nature called a 'self-centered being', which was derived from the sin-stained nature. It might be a very true colors of humans.

Having said that, I don't want to dig deep into the convoluted and abstruse definition of love, for I am not God Himself nor am I the Bible. But love might be the thing that we humans empathize with his or her or other people's minds and hearts...

Every time we empathize with their heart and mind, even though we cannot fully grasp, sometimes we feel up and feel down, and sometimes we feel unfair, abashed, and angry, and now and then, we might be betrayed by them, and thereby we may endlessly have to bruise our ego.
Despite our ego can never be removed to the last breath, sadly, because we humans might be living only for our ego...

No one will place a high value on an invisible love, because love cannot become a down-to-earth money we people love, furthermore, if we people fall in love with, then tend to regard ourselves as a ridiculous person who dreams an opium dream. Love never feeds bread for our starving belly...

In that regard, a platonic love is not more sacred either, it is also like a blowing wind and flaming spark that will disappear soon. Negatively speaking, love might be a brainwashed or an infatuated brain... On the other hand, some might think that when loving, there should not exist self, instead there should exist only for you, namely other party.  No, it might also be wrong; so to speak, there might have to coexist both you and I ...

In this story, The Gift Of The Magi, the husband and wife would have become one in mind and in heart at the exact moment, when they thought to give a gift to each other. It happened at the same time both the husband and the wife so that it might deliver readers a warm message... In other words, their love was not a one-sided love, but was a mutual love.

That being said, I think that we people cannot define love, nor can we see love, nor can we catch love... , but we people may know the one thing, like this famous lyrics

People talking without speaking,
People hear hearing without listening,

This song is The Sound Of Silence. Yes, it is an old song that the duet Simon and Garfunkel sang.

How can I dare define love?...
Does love really exist?...

I cannot even know what love is..., yet I may have to say it without speaking and without listening... like you...

🌲Merry Christmas!🎁

This is my gift for Christmas Day. I played the violin with piano accompaniment as below:

1. The Motive For Learning The Violin
🌹 When I was younger, which says, when I was full of hope, I wished to desperately play the violin and to beautifully play it on the stage even once before I die...  To me, the violin was a most wishful instrument to learn    For whenever I saw violinists on the stage, it was like a beautiful movie screen. Plus a violin is small, thus is handier to carry and easier to learn than other stringed instruments; e.g cello, viola, contrabass, harp, etc.

2. Playing The Violin By Treble Clef
Besides, violin learners don't need to read the bass clef that looks very difficult and complicated. Instead, in general, violin learners read the treble clef, so that violin is a musical instrument for melody rather than for chord(multiple melodies). Of course, violinists can make sounds a varied chord at one time.  However, as far as I know, those who learn other stringed instruments such as cello, viola, contrabass must read the difficult bass clef.

True be told, I'm not accustomed to reading the bass clef yet, specifically, I cannot even read it.  Most people who are not expert musicians may be the same as me. I'm not a talented person to do music nor am I an expert musician.

  3.  The Tacky Violin
Eventually, I purchased a handmade violin that was not made by machine at a factory in bulk( in large quantities). It is typically made for those who play the violin as a hobby like me. Because violinists don't buy nor do they play that kind of tacky violin that I have now, even if it was a handmade violin. Violinists have a zillion old violin as if Stradivarius.  Even they get stolen it...

Even so, I saved up money to purchase that kind of handmade violin, for I wanted to have a far better one, about that time its price was approximately $ 450 including other accessories, such as shoulder rest, bow, rosin, four strings(G, D, A, E: sol, re, la, mi), violin case, as below.

My machine-made violin $35, apart from its case
My machine-made violin was $35, apart from its case

But yet, this posted violin is not handmade, it is another used violin that I bought via an online shopping mall, for it was pretty cheap; its price was only "$ 35" ! including some violin accessories so that I didn't want to miss a good chance to buy it.  Moreover, it seemed good enough in my eyes, I was able to perceive it in one view.  Yes, this is a machine-made violin.

 4.  Various Violin String Set

There are several violin strings, a manifold quality, each of them has various characters and makes diverse sounds, but I have only used four types of stringsㅡits brands are Dominant, Tonica, Larsen, and Obligato.

Obligato is my favorite, but it is more expensive than other strings. The price of the Obligato string set will be approximately $150 today so that I don't deliberately buy it, what is more, these days, I hardly play the violin...
Because I lost interest in playing... Anyway, these are the Obligato strings that were wrapped by a paper cover :

 5.  The Difficulty of Beating Time

However, I was not good at beating time with an "exact" metronome, which was the best difficult course to play the violin for me. It was not difficult to master playing violin itselfㅡof course, not as an expert.  For example, shifting position, bowing, making sound vibrato, etc.

But rather, beating time was an unconquerable hurdle to me.  Even I was ashamed of learning the violin with having this flaw among other violin learners in a group violin class, after all, I gave up learning it. It is utterly impossible when someone plays a musical instrument without knowing how to beat time.

What was more shameful and more perplexed was that the "picky" and "indecent" violin teacher used to get angry at me, whenever I bumbled to beat time... It was terrible... Think about that, what if you were me, what would you do....? No one likes to be shameful in such a way...

Nevertheless, I couldn't forget the desire to beautifully play the violin with other musical instruments(e.g: piano, guitar, cello, etc.) Of course, I'm not a violinist... And I don't want to be a violinistㅡ any kind of MUSICIANS. Having said that, I have listened to music from time to time, generally whenever I feel lonely, sorrowful, and painful to live...

Time just elapsed, at last, I learned how to play the violin to some degree, not as a pro, and taught myself how to beat time, so that the shortcoming of missing time was improved than before.

 6.  The Difficulty of Becoming A Musician

Now, I no longer admire violinists and all musicians, which says their lives. Not that I can play the violin as much as violinists do, it's impossible, but that I realized what a musician's life is, I was aware of their inside story directly by learning the violin I experienced. The true colors of violinists behind the splendid stage are neither beautiful nor is enviable.

They are unenviable, for they have to practice a violin technique every day lest they should be dulled to play the violin, and every time they have to perform it on the stage, thereby an inestimable tension, like stage fright, weighs down themselves, further they must graphically learn by heart many pieces of sheet music, what about pianists? Period.  Pianists must entirely memorize sheet music not only the part of the piano but also the other parts of musical instruments at one time; how busy it is to beat time along with! And what incredible it is to do! But I cannot even understand its sheet music per se.

In such a setting, all musicians are not likely to suffer from a degenerative "dementia", for their brains were trained in playing music all their life long, which might be able to prevent dementia therewith.  I cannot memorize sheet music at all, even a short quantity of sheet music, furthermore my brain is being aged...

Plus, musicians also have a good "quickness", "endurance", and "sensitive ear"; some of them have an absolute pitch because of severe musical training or inborn musical talents. No easiness or free charge is supplied in this inexorable world, thus we humans have to work, expecting the result of our labor. However, there may have no fruition at all! That is a punitive and cruel life we humans have to live in this world...

7 . My Actual Violin Performance Via YouTube

Anyway, this is my short music video that was cut short due to the limited volume. I played the violin with the piano accompaniment and with the singing voice that was downloaded from YouTube.  He is an old German, and his song is German as well. How fascinating it is that a German accent and German voice make a sound like that... He played the piano and composed this song based on the lyrics that were written by Dietrich Bonhoeffer(1906~1945, Germany), who was martyred by Adolf Hitler.

I post some parts of the translated lyrics, is this:
Quoted :

By loving forces silently surrounded,
I feel quite soothed, secure, and filled with grace.
So I would like to live these days together,
and go with you into another year.

By loving forces wonderfully sheltered,
we are awaiting fearlessly what comes.
God is with us at dusk and in the morning
and most assuredly on every day

Still, matters of the past are pressing our hearts
and evil days are weighing down on us.
Oh Lord, to our souls, so scared and sore,
Give rescue, as it's that you made us for.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

I played the violin its song along with the German musician, it was recorded by the tacky violin $35 that I purchased and by the string Tonica in 2019 as below:

And I also played the violin in the well-known song "PERFECT" that is originally being sung by Ed Sheeran, who is an Englishman singer-songwriter.  It was also recorded by the tacky violin  $35 and by the string Dominant  in 2018 like below:

The string Tonica and Dominant have different characters, it sounds to me like Dominant is more strong and more powerful like its own name, whereas Tonica makes the sound warmer, and deeper, and milder, more plentiful, more sympathetic.  I prefer Tonica to Dominant.

The song was entitled "Perfect".

Yet

There is no a "perfect thing" in this world
as same as my music is.

Camping Out In The Woods

Lately, I found an interesting YouTube channel that was about primitive campingㅡespecially solo camping in winter. In truth, now I don't like camping because when I was young, in other words, when I was still full of curiosity about life, I had an experience of how to camp, so now I  know how much it makes me inconvenient to leave a house, although I was able to directly feel nature on the ground.

Bedsides, when people camping, plenty of heavy camping supplies such as food, tent, lamp, bedroll, etc. have to be carried off.  Hence, these days, many campers might dislike leaving for camping in a primitive way, instead, they might want to utilize a "trailer whole(mobile home)" which is fully equipped with camping tools. Such mobile homes maximize their comfortable camping.

Now I like watching someone's camping adventure via YouTube channel or TV indirectly, empathizing their camping experiences as a sympathetic viewer. In the meantime, I subscribed to one of the solo camping channels which let me be cheerful for some time.

He, the young YouTuber, looked like an American or Canadian because his English was not British English which has a peculiar pronunciation and intonation. He seemed to avoid the urgent quarantine over camping, whereas many Americans are dying especially in New York due to coronavirus contagion that is the tragic news I have watched via TV..., even it has frightened me; those who put on white protection suits were loading the dead on lorries and burying the dead on a certain island(by-corner) in the US en mass...

Who would know in advance that "the microscopic and invisible virus" would be overspreading to the whole world?... The microscopic virus looks like an invisible world war to massacre people... As a result, the corpses are being piled up; even I read the tragic news and saw the photo of the packed corpse in a blue plastic bag...  Such corpses are being dumped on the street in North Africa... Because people in North Africa cannot even pay funeral expenses... No one cares about the dead...

But the camper was not there, he was in the beautiful snow-covered forest with his lovely dog that was a setterㅡ unfortunately, I have no idea what kind of dog he has.

Anyway, I wanted to have that kind of friendly dog in watching it.  The young camper was so cheerful, talkative, and hilarious, he seemed to enjoy camping with his lovely dog, staying overnight in snowy nature, though he had to make money showing his camping adventure via his channel.

His channel made me cheerful as much as the camper was cheerful at that time. It seems to lighten life's burdens for a while, so such channels look more popular than any other channel, for this reason, lots of subscribers are watching them. Recently I got to know it.

I saw the beautiful winter scenery in every direction; the heavy snowing from the sky, evergreen trees, firewood, flaming campfire, feeble winter sunshine, the murk of night, snow-covered field, dinner cooking, was a chicken-pasta, and his simple bedroll. In a similar fashion, he was sharing everything he owned in a beautiful landscape in one night. He had a lot of camping equipment in that place.

I felt like I was in there really, and thereby I enjoyed all the things via his channel before sleeping that night. It was like picturesque scenery, a quite different world, like the short story of Rip Van Winkle( Washington Irving, USA, 1819).  When Rip Van Winkle was dead asleep for a while after drinking the wine that the elves(the spirit of the dead) gave him in the woods, in the meantime, everything, the whole world of America, was changed as twenty years quickly elapsed, for Rip Van Winkle was bewitched by the world of the elves like that...

It was likely that I became Rip Van Winkle himself, who was bewitched in the woods. Because I was bewitched by the channel, staying overnight with the cheerful camper and with his lovely dog where it was snowing all night long in beautiful winter sceneryㅡthe bosom of nature...

On one hand, humans ever miss and want to explore a primitive nature instinctively, on the other hand, go against nature or its providence and destroy nature only for the sake of men all along, that is a human-centeredness.

However, I think that nature is always with "The Creator", so that sometimes it embraces such a selfish human, contrariwise, at times exterminates men like the ripple effect of coronavirus pandemic all over the world... Such incidents demonstrate how weak humans are when facing the invincible power of nature.

The wrath of nature and the bosom of nature,
Both are coexisting again today...

Where are we going?

Return to nature!

Francis Bacon's Screaming Pope

Screaming Pope Painting By Francis Bacon

Painting By
Francis Bacon

    Review :

🌹 Recently, I came to acclaim this painting by which Francis Bacon( 1909~1992, Ireland) painted.  I am viewing this artwork, not only that, trying to understand his philosophy, although I cannot know his entire life and his whole artwork to the bone...

It was known that he taught himself how to paint, and then after twenty years, he held a private exhibitionIn the meantime, he designed his grotesque and deformative art style, which seems provocative, abstract, philosophical, disobedient, antiformalistic, unconventional, sarcastic, exceptional, straightforward, and raw... etc. Nevertheless, his paintings are ironically popular towards modern art called postmodernism.

Having said that, back then his paintings were not familiar to audiences so that he was bitterly vilified by themㅡwho would really acclaim that kind of grotesque or monstrous genre? Most likely not many.  Furthermore, he seems to paint that kind of paintings willfully, mocking the general, the conventional, world's ethos, especially the circle of religion.  At the outset, his paintings were not ace-high, but he enjoyed popularity as a successful artist in the end.

In fact, this deformed painting titled "Study After Velazquez's Portrait Of Pope Innocent X" was derived from the original painting that Diego Velazquez (Spanish painter, 1599~1660) painted based on the realistic figure of the Pope. But this painting has become known as Francis Bacon's "Screaming Pope" as well. In other words, Francis Bacon grotesquely deformed the original figure of the solemn and charismatic Holy Father as the genre of expressionism, which means that Francis Bacon seems to mirror his personal mentality, which looks like his deep-rooted antagonism against popes or Catholicism or the ethos of religions, on the canvas. Viewers will feel the overpowering aura of this painting that Francis Bacon radiated his aspiration on the canvas this way.

According to rumor, Francis Bacon seems to have come under severe censure one way or other by the doctrine of Catholicism popes( or the clergy) strictly stands up for.  However, most likely most people may already know that Catholic priests who have to be unmarried men have been committing sexual crimes against children or have been enjoying intercourse with same-sex priests as gays. According to gossip, Francis Bacon was also gay... that is why he depicted the pope in this grotesque way.  Francis Bacon would have wanted to expose their sins and would desperately have desired popes(or the clergy) to perish in hell where the fire and brimstones are simmering endlessly that is the cruel depiction the Bible says. What a cruel thing it is! That is the Bible...

This painting "Screaming Pope" draws me into imagining the unutterable dread of how fearful religious hypocrisy is. The clergy who have brainwashed tons and tons of people as a means of religion and who have scooped up money therewith and who have regarded themselves as the chosen of God might be punished like this painting. Because they are none other than wolves in sheep's clothing.

In that respect, Francis Bacon transformed the pope's reddish silk cloak that might have implied "the Atonement of Christ" into " the violet cape."  It might connote power, wealth, fame, and throne...etc. of religious leaders. Because usually, violet is symbolic of that kind of crown...

Plus the rough and straight brushstrokes seem to maximize tension and fear.  The gaping mouth of the pope was shown up the utmost scare of death that looks like a dark hell gate!

Most likely Francis Bacon would have portrayed, devastatingly isolating the pope, hence viewers' eyes are eaten up with the overpowering aura... That pope is being thrown into "the gaping door of death", the bottomless pit, like a condemned criminal who is only waiting for the utmost fear of death by hanging. Likewise, that chair will fall into the bottomless pit with the pope's last scream.. the last scream. I'm viewing this uncanny and grotesque painting with fear and tension...

In one sense, each person's life in this world might well be inequitable, yet "death" is only fair to every person, so our lives may be impartial.
