🌻  It seems like the somber and humid rainy season is over in my country...  What a heavyhearted it was so far! Now cicadas are loudly crying somewhere, it will be a forest. Because my house is encircled by a forest which is far apart from the middle of the inner city. It is already mid-August... Fall will come soonㅡthe season for a harvest... But, it is still sticky and damp here...

Most farmers will "expect" their fruits as much as they sowed in the spring and as much as they grew its plants during summer.  In this respect, people often quote this idiom, which seems to be originated from the Bible:
" One reaps, what he sows."

A harvest
A harvest

The original phrase is, this;
Galatians 6 : 7~9  Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season, we will reap, if we do not give up. ESV
This is just my personal view about the idiom that one reaps, what he sow. In this passage, the keyword is the Spirit and eternal life and the good deed is to sow to the Spirit instead of sowing to the corruption of the flesh. By the way, people might assume the definition of "good deed" in a different way...

Anyway, I don't even know what the Spirit is and what the eternal life is, nor do I want to be involved in that message, because it was spoken by the apostle Paul.

According to the Bible, Jesus teaches how to sow to the Spirit;  John 6:63  ESV "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I(Christ) have spoken to you are spirit and life."

Giving an example of the harvest that the apostle Paul stated, it will not be meant the thing that if we people endeavor to obtain a fruition in our lives, then we will necessarily reap it as we usually think...  Anyway,  this idiom, one reaps, what he sows, will be proper to exemplify in autumn... Despite this idiom looks fickle, for there are a lot of "variables" along the way...

Some sowed and cultivated, nevertheless, their fruits are never given to them...; for there might have been many stumbling blocks such as a drought, flood, storm, harmful insects, hailstones, and the short knowledge or experience of sowers.  By the way, what is more important is the mindset of sowers. That sowers ought contemplate how to surpass all these difficulties...  What if sowers cannot reap anything by sowing, then what will they do?...

Every sowers will be frustrated by such hollow results... and give up doing farmingㅡ no one will want to persist in their will if they don't have an "iron will."

I have been confronted by such difficulties since I began to blog... Now I don't even know what to do for the difficulties...  Sometimes, such difficulties provoke me to "anger", and once in a while it makes me "endure", and occasionally it thrusts me into a deep pit of "hopelessness", and from time to time it makes me "thank" about all these situations...

All these things look like a colorful chameleon that changes his skin color frequently, in other words, I'm so capricious like a chameleon...

Lately, my blog seems to be reviewing for AdSense approval whether or not it is eligible.  What if my blog is finally approved, then it will be a "miracle"!  Because, above all things, people hardly visit my blog, so that my blog looks pretty impossible to be monetized in practice... For this reason, my blog doesn't seem to get accepted for AdSense, although my blog was linked with the queue of reviewing AdSense.

Furthermore, I don't even know when this "infinite review" will be finished.. During the process, what if my blog cannot receive the final approval for a long time, then it will be meant that my blog was automatically rejected...

Because Google doesn't seem to announce "the notification of rejection" especially to the owners of blogspot domain which is directly tied by Google, for this reason, my blog also have to wait even without knowing "the notification of rejection." So, I have to wait... and wait... and wait... endlessly... endlessly...

Instead, Google usually seem to inform the notification of rejection to other owners who have other blog or site domains with the brief reason of why they are rejected. Thus, they typically know the result that they were rejected.

So strangely, people don't visit my blog via Google search site for nearly "10 months", in other words, it will be meant that people never click the indexed pages that I published on Google search site, even though they spot my blog.
What does it really mean...?
In addition, people don't even visit my blog on social media sites either! Nowadays, who would want to welcome "text-based blogs" on social media sites? In contrast, people seem to like spontaneous pictures or images or YouTube in place of text-based blogs.

In one sense, people might dislike "reading" itself... Because people's brain already became a "popcorn brain" due to the meme of using internet and the development of IT.  In another sense, I might not want to draw people to read my writingsㅡwho would welcome to read my writings, which are generally expressed "the suffering of life", "the futility of life", and "the death of life" ?...  Who would want to display ads on such a blog to make money...?

In such a setting, even I think that I may not be proper person to blog... Sharing my writings will also be a sin , which might brainwash people with my bitter poison(writings)...

In fact, everybody may be identical with "religious sect leaders" in order to entice away other people through a brainwashing, so that other peoples are to be one's moneymaking, thereby everybody wants to be exalted from other people endlessly like they are God Himself, 💧counting how much they can exercise their power among other people...
ESV Matthew 12:34 " You brood of vipers! "
I'm also a brood of vipers who must be damned deservedly...
This first review happened nearly 9 months later, when I began to blog through this blog platform. How slow the time has been passing since I have blogged for nearly 10 months with an ambiguous expectation for this review approval!  Despite its patience is cruelly starting all over again for the final review!
Everybody wants to be happy.
Everybody desires to succeed.
Who would like to see the shipwrecked Titanic? But rather, people wish to go on board the Titanic, dreaming each of their dreams... But, the huge Titanic sank into the somber sea forever... , who would foresee it...?
I cannot even do this way and that wayㅡ stopping blogging makes me painful; it will be possible if I utterly "give up" blogging, which people never visit my blog except for them... , for this reason, my blog will not be approved for the advertising either... And lasting blogging makes me painful as well... That's why...
I don't know why I continue to blog...
One of the reasons, it might be the approval for setting up the advert in some ways...  How contradictory I am, too! , that is why everybody is sinners...
Even so, what if my blog is approved for the final advertising, nevertheless, my blog looks impossible to be monetized in practice...
Having said that, who would want to work something without any reward?... No one will want it.
Even firemen are victimized/dead in the flaming pit, receiving their "payment"... By the way, what is more cruel is,
No one has forced me to blog... No one has guaranteed to pay income for "blogging"...
First of all, this reality that no one guarantees to pay earnings through blogging may be to let me even more sorrow and painful... for this reason, I might not even be able to grumble against this vague situation... Plus, no one takes the responsibility if blogs are dead or not, namely even "the death of blogs" turns out "worthless" like a "dungheap"... The forsaken death from...

Well, I don't even know how I have been keeping up blogging up to now, overcoming such difficulties... I might have been possessed by something invisible power...

It is already mid-August, 2020... Autumn is coming ... Recently this phrase pops into my head, for I'm faced with complaining/grumbling against my current...
Psalm 8 : 4 "What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you are care for him?" ESV
This is the music that I recorded by using the recording application of my mobile phone in the last year perhaps... I played the violin not as an expert; this video was linked through my YouTube channel account, for lately my blog is impossible to upload videos via other route...

In one sense, when I think over how I have been blogging so far, I often think that "all" might have given by the grace of God as above phrase... Because, I might know that my ideas(inspirations) to write something is not caused by meㅡ not that my talent or my ability, but that it might be given from God... hence, I might have been possible to blog so far...though, I don't even have a knowledge and an experience to blog unlike other bloggers who might have much knowledge and manifold experiences in their lives...

I feel that such ideas flash upon my mind like a lightning in a twinkle of an eye, but not every moment... I don't even know where it comes from, in that respect, I might want to confess that such ideas are not mine... but it might have given from God... And I don't even know how long it will go on...

In addition, this blog platform is free everybody can use, and my writings are publishing/indexing on Google Search Engine after a long wait, even though people don't click it... But, it might be a blessing that my blog might not be monetized by the reason...

Anyway, without this blog, I would not have been able to blog itself, for I'm not good at dealing with other blogs and sites(computer), which look very difficult and complicated to manipulate...

Well, what I have to do is, I might only have to "thank"... Despite I see myself who is always grumbling against all situations in my life....  If I cannot reap what I sowed, what shall I do?ㅡ in fact, "the seed" and "the soil" are not even mine, as such I might not even be able to complain like I am the "owner"...

This blog is not mine,
 Visitors are not mine,
 Life is not mine,
 Death is not mine,
 Nation is not mine,
 Family is not mine,
 Money is not mine,
 Health is not mine,
 Blogging is not even mine...
 Everything is not mine,
But, everything might be God's...

So, I'm like a dummy, mignonette, scarecrow, and an actress who can never do as I wish, nor can I own everythings as I wish... But, in fact, every human will be God's dummies, they CAN DO NOTHING as they wish, but must do as God only wishes. No one can WIN God like we humans can never conquer the time and death, though people want to dominate other people and this world by their money and power.

In conclusion, I'm nothing... NOTHING...

So, I might be painful again today... , by the reason that I have to die day by day through blogging, which all my efforts must come to nothing... and "I (self)" have to become " nothing."
Blogging might be the same as the "CROSS" and "GRAVE" that I have to "perish" therewith and "die"against my innate sinful-nature as a sinner; wrath, sadness, greed, desperation, grumble, expectation, loneliness...etc.
Instead, I might have to learn love, gratitude, satisfaction, forgiveness, await with patience, peace, something like that...  But yet, there "might" only exist an infinite frustration(impossibility) and the death in the end..., which might be a cursed and ill-fated human's life itself...

That being said, I see myself that I'm still expecting fruition endlessly, though there is "NOTHING" to expect through blogging...

Lately, I purchased pretty two mug cups which look like a pot/jar to "welcome coming autumn", even if I don't have ANYTHING to harvest... These are the porcelanous cups; the price was about $15, these cups were designed by the style of Poland... so it looks exotic in my eyes... And today, I purchased some hub teasㅡ"lime", "lemon verbena."  So, it will arrived after 2~4 days.  I have never been drunk such hub teas, it is my first time. But I would like to attempt to taste it through this opportunity...

The Cups That I Bought
The Cups That I Bought

A Maple Syrup Made in Canada
A Maple Syrup
Made in Canada

And I purchased this KIRKLAND's "maple syrup" to blend the tea therewith. It will be good rather than a sugar...
When I blogged about "the honeybee", at that time, I bought it. It is my first time to buy a maple syrup instead of honey... For I wanted to try to drink tea on behalf of coffee... From time to time, I used to drink teaㅡrosemary, peppermint,  cinnamon, lotus leaf, jujube, and green tea... but, a rosemary tea seemed not to be fit to me...

Because, this year, perhaps January, I couldn't help but go to the ER(emergency room) in the midnight after I drank such herb teas.  I couldn't endure a stomachache and sour-stomach, that is why... Now I suspect that a rosemary tea would cause me to be sick...

That time the doctor said," It look like an acute gastritis, so we need to scope more exactly through an endoscopy."

Fortunately, I recovered while I was on the bed in ER for 5~6 hours after getting IV(intravenous, drip) with various medical fluids... A nurse injected it, she looked like a veteran who can find out a vessel at one try on my wrist that is why she worked in ER...

Now I never want to drink a rosemary tea, instead, nowadays I drink a green tea and cinnamon tea, which seems to be suitable to me...

The saying always comes into my mind constantly, whenever I blog:
"Where do we come from, what are we, where are we going...." ㅡPaul Gauguin, France.
I ask it again today; where is my blog going...?   For what...
But still there, there is only the silence with the ambiguity...

My question is only returning... and returning... to me like the echo that is resounding from a distance...

The Derision of Skulls

  Preface:

   - Popular Doctors vs Unpopular Doctors

Most likely people will be afraid of a man's skull and bone. Nevertheless, doctorsㅡesp. doctors for anatomy, orthopedic surgeon, and forensic doctors who inquire into the causes of the death after murdering cases or other causes of the death ㅡmay not fear seeing skulls and bones than ordinary people.

Even so,  such forensic specialists may be vastly affected by the trauma(lingering images) through viewing the disfigured dead bodies; if I were them, I would not overcome all that nauseating/disgusting scenes...

In my country,  plenty of medical students tend to avoid becoming such doctors who work the department of surgeries such as chest surgery, orthopedic surgery, OBGY (obstetrics & gynecology), general surgery, burn treatment, anatomy, and forensic medicine, etc.

But, they want to be a "plastic surgeon", even if it has surgical risk factors...  Because, being a plastic surgeon makes much better money than any other surgical surgeons, because having plastic surgery for a "beauty" is free from a medical insurance. Moreover, most people want to have plastic surgery for their beauty, or else they want to be a dermatologist or dentist in a private hospital or clinic in order to make much better money with less medical malpractices.

While, internal medical doctors and other doctors who work in a private hospital or clinic cannot make much money than dermatologists and dentistsㅡfor most treatments of dermatology and dentistry for a "beauty" are also ruled out from a medical insurance.

- Unpopular Forensic Doctors

In such a setting, particularly the department of forensic medicine is "not popular",  so that medical students don't apply to be forensic doctors who are belong to government; such forensic doctors are not a "businessman" like other doctors, but are government employees.

Nowadays, lots of people have been committing suicide "en masse"  and been killing by murder cases in my country (in fact, all the world), by doing so forensic doctors are getting busy to autopsy/investigate each of the causes of death. I heard that the dead bodies are being piled up in a autopsy room.  Despite forensic doctors are very insufficient to autopsy each of causes of the death...

The forensic doctors face up to the death "day by day ", and they will learn what the death is with the humility of life at the scene of death...  We people might have to know "the meaning of the death" as much as "the meaning of life" in our lives, even if nobody will want to die, but rather will struggle one's way to live, to live, to live...  Regardless, "dying" fairly happens to "all of us" either the rich or the poor... Even now the death is coming to our lives...

Such forensic doctors/scientists "dig up the secrets (causes) of the death" of how they were dead in their dead-end moments; for the dead never tell how they were dead or killed... Hence,  that forensic doctors/scientists must expose the causes of each individual death on behalf of the dead, which looks very important task...

Solving the riddle of the death is also up to forensic doctor's careful investigation; for police investigators are not likely to completely solve the mystery of the death on their own.

And then, they must disclose one's "victimized death" by "the last clues of the death"... It might become a supreme task and worth of forensic doctors for the sake of the dead and their left family...

  - A Developing Forensic Science

Well, in some ways, the death of humans might be the same as a valueless death of fly or a butchered/slaughtered livestock... For a man's body is also a flesh that will rot...  Anyway, the forensic science is being developed from strength to strength through a scientific analysis against a thriving crime...

 - The Scary Memory of The Skull In My Childhood

  Skulls....
When I was young, probably 6~8 years old, I experienced the extreme horror of a skull in the woods. But it was not seen in practice... , however it was like that I witnessed a skeleton in there "indeed"...

We, friends of my village, were playing hide-and-seek in the forest, which there were some burial sites/graves. In my country, such traditional graves are different from flat tombs, but have a mound.

Occasionally we, residents of the village, used to hear wolves' crying at midnight in that village where I lived in my childhood.

About that time, it was getting darker and darker...; for it was early evening in autumn... When we went around all around of that village, there were also persimmon trees along with scarlet persimmons, we used to pick and ate it at once to satisfy our hunger...

Persimmon Trees
Persimmon Trees

By the way, when we were playing cops and robbers, we could hide manifold places in the woods. When the tagger who was a sister in my village was looking for us(skulkers) in all directions, suddenly she screamed,
" Guys! DO RUN AWAY from here, Right away! Oh my goodness! Over there, over there, there is a SKULL that is stamped rainbow-colored lines on its forehead! Do run away, Right now!!!!"

Rainbow-colored lines on skull
Rainbow-colored lines on skull's forehead

And then, every friends ran out from the bush, screaming,  "aargh !!!!! ".  All they ran away in a hurry apart from me!  I was young, so that could not flee from there like other friends ran away quickly!  I got left behind alone there with the somber darkness that was encompassing all around!  The exact moment, I felt an extreme horror, at last I began to cry, standing thereㅡ just cried, cried, and cried... for a moment.

After hearing my cry, my second elder sister came back to bring meㅡshe seemed to forget me who lagged behind by fear; for as soon as she heard the scream, she ran away first. After hearing my cry, she seemed to sense my absence later. My second elder sister carried me on her back, and then she ran and ran...toward our home...

This happening became an unforgettable memory in my life...  Now I think that the sister might have told a lie to stop the role of a tagger, and she might have wanted to go back to her home due to her hunger, it was already evening, so she might have wanted to do mischief in that way. 😆

Because, the sister was very clever, from time to time, she used to steal her father's money without anyone knowing... Her father was a mom-and pop store-owner(small store) that sold petty groceries, thus she knew well how to take out money, and where the moneybag put...

Whenever I and my second elder sister visited her home, she used to give us some sweet candies and other stuffs... That being said, the sister was very pitiful girl; for she lost her birth mother when she was young, so while she only lived with her sick father, and then a few years later, even her father was dead by TB(pulmonary tuberculosis). According to gossip, she went to her stepmother...

In those days, oddly my sister and I were not infected by TB, even though we visited her home frequently... When the death was closely coming to her father, he looked like a gray skull itself...

- Why Do People Paint Skulls ?

Well, there are other stories to illustrate about skulls which mock humans and this world... What if forensic doctors or its scientists delve into the cause of death, in response to this, there are another those who express what the death is through such skulls and bones. They are none other than artists.

Here are the skulls and bones that imply a human's death and the futility of human's life. Whenever I saw such skull paintings, I used to feel something "catharsis" through.

Because, such sarcastic skulls scoff humans and this world on my behalf... Probably, we people might want to ridicule humans(even if we are a human) and this world deep in our heart like these skeletons, especially when we feel the despicableness or dirtiness against men(or other people) and this fallen world...  Well, these skulls and bones seem to represent about that in my eyes.

The Body:

  1.  Damien Hirst

These are that skulls and bones collage:

For The Love Of God Sculpture, 2007 By Damien Hirst, 1965~present, UK
For The Love Of God
Sculpture, 2007 By
Damien Hirst, 1965~present, UK

When I saw this skull by Damien Hirst  for the first time, it was shocking! In fact, it is still shocking and thought-provoking to me...  According to description, Damien Hirst made this skull, using many "diamonds" and "platinum(white gold), which were covered on the whole skull.

The skull seems to laugh out "loud" in the darkness,  mocking toward something and someone... Beyond that, the "biggest" diamond was embedded in the middle of its forehead! By the way,  its skull was ironically entitled, "For The Love Of God"...

Well, this skull seems to show much "inner meaning" behind the sneering laughter, bragging the dazzling/shiny diamonds on.  The biggest diamond in the middle of its forehead might connote that we human only prioritize " money. "  Because, the forehead might symbolize the most important position in a man's body, so to speak, it is kind of "the main point."  What is the most valuable to human in this world?  It will be money in practice... that's why...
As we know, as soon as David stoned to Goliath, Goliath was exactly stoned onto his "forehead", and then died at once in the Bible...
Anyhow, there is no a specific answer about that, but rather it is up to only audience's personal perspective of how to feel.  In that respect, I would like to think like this; the sneering skull might want to expose the futility of  human's life and man's avarice simultaneously.  What good is it to possess such dazzling diamonds/wealth after being the skeleton, namely after dying...?
Knowing the futility of life and the reality of death is, might be the love of God like the original title... For The Love Of God"...
Another my view about that is, people and so-called "Christian" think if they receive a blessing for a "wealth and prosperity" from God, then they regard it as God's love, by contrast, God might "dry up"  such a man's  avarice/greed  like the dry skull...

Or the skull might want to glamorize/beautify the death with the splendor of the diamonds, in that sense, human might be the same as a whitewashed tomb which is crowded with dry bones and skulls. Despite we human might want to hide the death with a splendid wealth and prosperity as if the shiny skull of Damien Hirst and as if we people are still alive therewith in the whitewashed tomb...

Regardless, the skull might still be mocking such a human's ambition, pipe dream, and covetousness...etc. in the name of the "death" again today...

  2.  Vincent Van Gogh

Skeleton With Burning Cigarette , Oil painting , 1885~1886 By Vincent Van Gogh, Holland
Skeleton With Burning Cigarette ,
Oil painting , 1885~1886
By Vincent Van Gogh, Holland

Perhaps, everybody will know Vincent and his masterpieces, but this skeleton painting, "Skeleton With Burning Cigarette" is not well known.  Why would Vincent paint this skeleton?... There are some assumptions about that.  As I see it, he might already have known himself as "the dead" like above skull painting... As such, the skeleton might be Vincent himself, his dead self-portrait.

There might have been many painters who painted skulls, but no one must have painted a skull like Vincent, who might have mirrored his death through "the smoking skull"...

About that time, Vincent could not eat a balanced meal due to his excessive/inordinate smoking and drinking , moreover he had decayed teeth, thus he could not even eat a baguette bread... And he was sick by a secret disease(syphilis) along with his mental illness...

Vincent might have wanted to let people know his ill-fated life, his dying life, through "the skull" that he painted in person... Along the way, he might not have forgotten to paint the cigar that the skull tightly hold between its teeth.
Frankly, Vincent's self-portrait itself looks very "lean" like the skull...  And it looks that the skull never spits out the cigar from his mouth, which looks like a his (Vincent's) solid volition or blind daring/challenge against his miserable life...

In addition, the skull looks unruly and cynical... On the other hand, it seems to be "leisurely" against the fear of the death...  In a sense, Vincent might have wanted to surpass "the issue of life and death",  painting his death through the smoking skull... in doing so, he might have wanted to deride "this world" through the skull.

The skull that he painted looks kind of like a 3D(three dimensional) X-ray, or CT(computerized tomography) scan, or MRI(magnetic resonance image) today... Well, How could he know that kind of stereoscopic angle in those days?... It is interesting...

3. Paul Cézanne

The pyramid of skulls , 1901 Paul Cézanne, 1839~1906, France
The pyramid  of skulls , 1901

       Paul Cézanne...
Well, If I describe regarding him and his paintings more detail, then I might need another page to write it, even though I'm not an expert art scholar...

So, I'm going to explain only about this skulls painting, " The Pyramid Of Skulls." Even so, it seems that I should explain the overall behind story to help an understanding for why he would paint this skulls...

Paul Cézanne seems that he didn't avoid "the communion of the death"  through this skull paintings... In fact, he was born as a "forsaken baby" (illegitimate child/love child)...  This "unforgettable trauma" might have let him be obsessed by painting the skulls(the death) deep down in his heart, in other words, he was suffered by a depression (melancholia)ㅡmental illness, while he also pursued the "lust for life" at the same time.

This unstable dilemma might have let him paint "still-life paintings" at his home only,  because he might have wanted to overcome such a dilemma(ambivalence), that is to say, an ambivalent/unsettled mind and heart through painting a still-life, which was never moved, but was only fixed. Above all, such a fixed still-life painting was different from his unsteady mind and heart...

Paul Cézanne failed from the art contest at the Salon serially... This long-lasting frustration might also have let him be more "alienated" and "autistic" person...
He dislike hanging out with people, instead, he only painted such still-life paintings alone at his home unlike other hilarious impressionist painters who enjoyed painting outside, monitoring the variety/change of the sunlight back then.

His nervousness, depression, and lust for life, all these things might have caused him to conflict "between life and death" consistently. And his restless mind and heart might have made him more obsessive/compulsive to paint a still-life such as apples, skulls, etc. on the table...

But, his works look very diverse and deep, even if "the objects" were very simple and limited only at his home.
Instead, he seems to stubbornly dig into the limited objects of how to paint like his paranoia.

Plus, his paintings seem that he studied much how to view the fixed objects this way and that way with a varied eye-angle (e.g.: top and bottom, right and left...) within the limited spaceㅡtherein lies his peculiar and sole technique and plentiful aura like below:

   4.   Barthel Bruyn-Vanitas Still life

Vanitas Still Life By Barthel Bruyn, German, 1493~1555
Vanitas Still Life
 By Barthel Bruyn, German, 1493~1555

17C in Europe, painters started painting skulls like above, " Vanitas(vanity)"ㅡ the motif was, "Remember The Death" (memento mori) and these genres were prevalent back then, perhaps such paintings might have been derived from the Bible passage:
ESV Ecclesiastes 1: 2 ...Vanity of vanities ! All is vanity.
In this painting, even the skull lost its jaw on upper floor along with the extinct candlelight, and there are two spaces, the upper floor and the lower floor, like the boarder of life and deathㅡthe heaven and the earth

And a dirty fly that only seeks dirty things is sitting down on the skull, which seems that even the fly ridicules a human's sinful life and worthless death. In other words, the life and death of human might be the same as a dung! that is why the fly is sitting down on the skull that looks like a dung.

As I said above, it might also mean that a human's life and death are like a trifling fly... the worthless life and death...
The Bible also says about that:
ESV Job 25: 5~6  " Behold, even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure in His(Lord's) eyes; how much less man, who is a maggot (fly's larva), and the son of man, who is a worm !"

A Close-up Skull
A Close-up Skull

This close-up skull was painted by Gustav klimt , who was fascinated with women and women's nude, even so he seems to ponder over the question of what life is and what death is...

As we see above painting, the skull looks menacing, which is staring the circle of humans with the blue-snaky eyes so as to hit that humans and this world, nevertheless, it looks that humans are just ignoring "the existence of the skull(death)"ㅡthe coming death. Instead, they seems to be bewitched by their births and lives in this world, which means that the births and lives based on the flesh (e.g: family based on sex, bloodline, community, society, nation...etc.), namely based on the carnal things.

By the way, the snaky(sinister) skull is dressing the cruciform pattern garment unlike humans dressed. The cross-patterned garment might symbolize the cross of Christ that will judge a humanity as if the bat that the skull is holding tightly.

Gustav Klimt might have been a free spirit from the bondage of religion(Christianity). Having said that, he might have known intuitively what life was, and what death was at least... just as a painter, not as a religious worker...

6. Francisco Goya

If I describe about Francisco Goya and his paintings more detail, it will also need another page to write...  So, now I might as well illustrate about only this paintingㅡ" Until Coming The Death."

It looks that an ugly old woman is wearing a white wedding-dress with jewels but she seems to die soon by aging... And another old woman who looks like a skull itself is showing something, which looks like a mirror, to the ugly old woman. By the way, on the back of mirror, something letter was written ; " Que-tal? " which means "How is it?" , rather to be precise, "How do you look"?

The ugly old woman might be seeing her face through the mirror, she looks still passionate and engrossed/preoccupied to look at her appearance, even if she was old and lean-ugly with wrinkles...  Her reddish eyes might represent her flaming passion for a beauty...

Regardless, another old man who seems to be an "angel of death" is about to sweep away all this covetous situation through the broom behind the ugly old woman... And then, the angel of death seems to take the ugly old woman to the afterlife...

 Epilogue

The Derision of Skulls

In conclusion, until coming the death, humans might be devoured by "lust for life", such as beauty, success, family, marriage, job, fame, wealth, health, prosperity, well being, power, etc., which people in this world endlessly chase...

That being said, it will not be meant that we people must kill ourself right away to be freed from that lust for life, rather, it might be meant that we humans should keep in mind the death coming as much as life goes like forensic doctors encounter the death every day in practice... The death is not apart from forensic doctors... but, the death is always with them...

The Bible states who we are; all humans are like the dry skulls and bones.
ESV Ezekiel 37 : 4 ~5 .... O dry bones.... hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: "Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live."
Sometimes, I see these paintings and store it in my cell phone gallery, furthermore I used to post such skull painting photos as my profile picture on SNS accountsㅡit doesn't matter how people appraise my profile. In honest, that skulls and bones will be the very reality!

      By doing so, I also feel catharsis, looking at the derision of skulls and bones. These are a sarcastically mocking all sniffish humans and this devilish and hellish world.  Along the way, I might want to cheer these skulls, which means their derision against humans and this world, proclaiming this;
No one wins the death.

27. The Stray Dog Hachi's Long Wait For...

Image : Google

🌹
July 30, 2020, last night, I was not able to deeply sleep, for the lightning flashed, the thunder struck, and the rain poured down all night long... It was unusual happening to me, and it will be my first experience to witness such a loud-mouthed thunderbolt which was hitting for a long time... I was scared during the last night thereby...

Usually, I cannot sleep well, so often feel fatigue next morning. My dog( breed: Shih-tzu) named "Nuni" also couldn't sleep well due to that thunder and lightning, Nuni was just wandering from place to place, fearing that thunderbolt as much as I was frightening that time.

I have lived with my dog for nearly ten years, having said that,  Nuni is not my original dog, because I adopted him from the remote dog shelter that my city(government) has managed... I chose a Shih-tzu, about that time, Nuni looked healthy and cute than any other dogs in there.

But yet, my dog Nuni is not a friendly dog, but rather, is just dull... 😆 In addition,  Nuni doesn't like to do cute things/act cutely like many other dogs make sweet
gestures to their owners. Thus, I think that Nuni might have a trauma by which he was abandoned from his former owner, so that Nuni might not express his affection in this way...  If not so, this might be a Shih-tzu's intrinsic character.

That being said, Nuni is in communion with me. Whenever I fondle Nuni, then, that night Nuni sleeps in front of my room door, it seems that Nuni wants to protect me, while I sleep in.  But, at other times, Nuni rarely comes to me voluntarily...

My Dog, Nuni
Breed : Shih-tzu

When I adopted Nuni, he was already received the surgeryㅡneuter/desexualization and debarking.
I heard that the surgery, desexualization, keeps dogs from getting diseases, for this reason, Nuni might have never been sick for ten years. I hope that Nuni will not be sick on and on...  However, the surgery of debarking looks cruel... For Nuni cannot bark itself as a dogㅡpeople don't want dogs to loudly bark, hence they intentionally let dogs receive a debarking...

My dog has his own character that I have observed since;
ㅡ Only likes to "sleep" all day long.
 Only like to "eat".
Frankly, Nuni is a "glutton", and does eat balanced dog foods,  every time dog foods are regularly changed, regardless, Nuni always eats all the things very well, whatever it is, so seems to like diverse dog foods.

Moreover, Nuni also likes to eat the food that people eat: candies, fruits(esp. apple, banana), bread, ice cream, sweet potato, chestnut, etc.
ㅡ Never barks, thus my house is not loud by barking.
ㅡ Has a docile/mild character unlike small and lean dogs.
e.g. poodle, chihuahua, yorkshire terrier, etc. They tend to bark much and are very aggressive, keen, and imprudent, etc.  While, Nuni is never "picky" or "peevish", but is always docile, generous, dull...
ㅡ Like to listen door bell.
 ㅡ Like to go outside.
  ㅡ Is very healthy.
Well, one day, I watched TV that televised regarding those who lived an unique life unlike ordinary people. There was a young man who lived alone. He was interested in caring unique animals including reptiles (approximately 30~40 animals)ㅡ even so, I don't even know all that animal's names, and cannot remember...

By the way, there were also two otters in the bathtub, it looked like an otter in my eyes, they frequently scratched a bathroom door by their tooth! All these things were from a " jungle" (e.g. Amazon of the south America). Because, He purchased the imported animals from. His house was crammed with that kind of animals!  In addition, there were unruly and wiled animals among them, so his house was in a "mess" all the time. For this reason, He looked very busy to clean and tidy his filthy house, for such animals always wandered from place to place, or were on the rampage in his house! And he had to feed all that animals!

And I remember another similar TV program. There was an unmarried woman who liked to live with an adult pig " in her house", not a pigpen, thus, she unilaterally rented  a house/room to live with the pigㅡprobably, the rent expense of house would be very expensive... We, as an ordinary people, don't understand well their passion to care that animals in that manner...

Anyway, especially, dogs have been in communion with humans than any other animals, we people may have heard that dogs could be in rapport with humans.

For example, some brilliant dogs have been rescuing people, so to speak, when earthquakes occur, that dogs rescue a dying people who are buried by the collapsed buildings through their signalㅡsmelling and barking.  Or that kind of dogs work in the war as a police dog/German Shepherd, as a search and rescue dog, as a drug-sniffing dog, plus as a guide dog for the blind... and so on.

However, sometimes people read or hear the touching and pitiful news(stories) that such dogs died in the end by overworking...  I remember such touching storiesㅡeven so, I don't expressly remember if it was a real story or not. It might have been a fairy tale; I read it when I was a primary school student, perhaps...

One is, there was a loyal, brilliant, and an intelligent dog which saved his owner who fell asleep by getting drunk on the isolated field, that dog was there with his owner. By the way, a fire took place around the field, and the tongues of fire were violently flaming like flicking snake's tongues which was split into two. Such tongues of fire seemed to swallow everything around... Nonetheless, the drunk owner was still sleeping without knowing its blazing fire...

At last, the adult dog made a decision to rescue his master... Fortunately, there was a brook around the field, the dog put water on his body, and then innumerably rolled around the place that the master lied down so as to extinguish the flaming fire...

When the master awoke from the sleep and the drunk, there was his black-scorched/blackened dog around him, which was already dead by burning... Before one knows,  the fire was also extinguished like the death of his dog... And the master perceived that his black-scorched dog saved himself like so... while he was sleeping by drinking alcohol on the field...

The other story is a "real story" to which it took place in Japan. The dog's name was " Hachi " (1923~1935)

Hachi , The National Dog of Japan
Image: wikipedia / Google

One day,  a professor, named Ueno, of university was received two little dogs, one of them was "Hachi"... The professor was fond of that kind of dog(the national dog of Japan), but whenever he owned that dogs, sadly all of them was dead, so that he looked forward to have that kind of dog again... His dream came true, receiving Hachi, the professor wholeheartedly cared Hachi... At last, Hachi grew up, as we see above photo, under the warm care of the professor...

Hachi always liked to wait coming back the professor who came back home after his working in front of door, and always went to see off/escort the professor to the Sinagawa train station. When the professor completely took a train to work, then, Hachi came back home again...

And when the time was reached that the professor came back home again,  Hachi also went to the train station in advance, and then awaited him in there...

In the mean time, the professor was suddenly dead by a brain hemorrhage, for this reason, Hachi could not eat "anything"  for a long... time in his barn... It might have been Hachi's grave grief and heartbreak by losing his master...

By the way, after the professor died, the wife of the professor determined to send Hachi to their relative home.
She might have wanted to forget her husband's aftertaste like so... For Hachi was the one that the professor loved... Whenever she looked at Hachi in her home, she might have been anguished through Hachi, recalling her dead husband...

Nevertheless, Hachi couldn't be adapted himself to live with other family/home... so that, Hachi left from there, and then came back to the city that the professor lived, by doing so, Hachi became a " stray dog " with a hunger, sickness, and coldness... No one cared Hachi... Even people "teased" Hachi this way and that way, for Hachi became an abandoned dog on the streetㅡ there no one cared Hachi in stark contrast with the professor...

Along the way, Hachi couldn't stop waiting his former master at the train station like the days Hachi awaited his master as always, day by day, until Hachi died... Whether or not it rained...whether or not it snowed... whether or not the storm blew, whether or not it was hot... Regardless, Hachi was there all the time, awaiting his former master...
But yet, the professor never got off the train... never more...

After He Was Gone

We people will know " the anguish of waiting " of how much it weighs us down by that pain... Today and tomorrow... and the day after tomorrow.... it never comes... never comes back...
Hachi might have felt the pain the same as people, only awaiting his former master out there...
The Running Train That He Never Comes Back From...

After that, Hachi was also dead with a sickness... The cause of Hachi's death was the infection of parasites... When veterinarians/doctors for animals inquired into the cause of Hachi's death, some of sharp chicken bones were discovered in Hachi's digestive organs... On this account, Hachi's belly was crowed with water...(perhaps, including inflammation)ㅡ I don't know the exact medical terminology and its knowledge...

Because, Hachi was a stray dog, so, was not able to be protected at all...  Until the day Hachi died,  Hachi awaited his former master at the train station all along...for "nine years"...

This mournful and touching story of Hachi was reported by the Asahi newspaper of Japan... and then, spread widely...
The Japanese wanted to commemorate Hachi's loyal and changeless heart for his owner, thus made the statue of Hachi at the train station in Japan like below;
The Statue Of Hachi At Shinagawa Station In Japan

Some say that animals have no their heart and mind... But I would like to be against about that, I think that animals also have their own mind and heart... that said, only the "spirit/soul" might not have in them, namely, the afterlife...

I experienced that kind of communion with the dog before, the dog was like "Hachi" in some ways...
One day, I found a wandering dog around my house. It was also Shih-tzu... Nuni closely resembles the dogㅡthe color, the size, and appearance...

The dog seemed to be lost his owner... At that time, I brought about the dog to my home on behalf of reporting to the dog shelter that has managed by my city(government). That time, I pretty liked dogs as if the professor... I took care of the stray dog with all my heart...

However, I was not able to be with the dog for a long periodㅡit might have been for a weekㅡ because, when I went out with the dog, miraculously, I met the dog's former owner on the street. For He lived around my house... He said that he has tried to find his lost dog ...

I couldn't help but hand over the dog to the original owner... That being said, I felt an unknowable sadness in my heart that I had to say goodbye...

It has been a few days like so...

One day, the dog  sat down in front of my house door. I was very astonished at the sight! I spent some time with the dog, thereafter I took the dog to the owner's home. The dog seemed that he could not " forget " my presence and the days that the dog and I spent several days together in my home...

And it has been a few days again...

One day, the dog sat down in front of my house door again! But, sadly... the dog was bleeding from one eye! What happened!... I immediately thought that the dog might have struggled to flee from the original owner who might have tied up the dog not to flee from, never more! Along the way, the dog's eye might have been pricked by something peak like a needle...

I was puzzled/bewildered,  seeing the wounded dog... I felt a heartache through... I spent some time with the dog, afterward, I took the dog to the owner's home again...

Well, the owner's old mother was there, she asked me to buy the dog, the price was approximately $450!
Back then, I couldn't afford to buy the dog, moreover it was too expensive to me... I could not purchase the dog, though I liked the dog...

After that,  I moved out to other place, hence I couldn't hear the news of the dog nor could I see the dog any longer... But, I cannot still "forget" the dog like the dog could not forget my presence, this writing will be the proof that I cannot still forget the dog... And I'm writing about the story from which it happened twenty years ago(probably) in my life... That is why I believe that dogs have their own mind and heart through all these stories...

Love...

The story of " Les misérables" pops into my head,  Jean Valjean  purloined/stole some possessions of the priest, but the priest demonstrated his mercy to Jean Valjean.  Since that time,  the unforgettable mercy was deeply etched in Jean Valjean's rough and hardened heart...

After experiencing the mercy for the first time in his life, Jean Valjean was transformed thereby, even though it was just a "fiction"... Jean Valjean's frozen heart like a solid iceberg might have melted by the "mercy" that the priest demonstrated...
So, Vitor Marie Hugo (1802~1885, France) , who wrote this story "Les misérables" might have said like this; " The supreme happiness in life is the conviction that we are loved."....
For Jean Valjean might have never been "received" such a "mercy/love" as a poor thief who was just obsessed how to live, how to eat, and how to escape from the poverty... there might only have been a derision, persecution, inequity, betrayal, poverty, desperation, loneliness, hunger, sickness, wrath, resentment, grief , and an angst/anxiety... in his ill-fated life by which he had to live as the poor... In the end, Jean Valjean might have decided to be a thief in order to live like other people do live...

Who would admire "the poor" in our society?... But rather, people will despise or tease them like Hachi was abandoned from people...

Whenever Christmas comes back, I recall the famous story of "The Little Match Girl" (written by Hans Christian Andersen , 1805~1875 , Denmark) that most people know. No one helped the pitiful little girl, even if she shouted,
" Please, buy these matches! ...please, buy these matches, please...buy these matches... ! "
After all... the little girl died on the street like Hachi...

Image : Google

Jean Valjean might have harbored that feelings deep in his heart. And when he was put behind bars/imprisoned by stealing "only some of bread" in order to soothe his hunger the present, in other words, to "live" , that feelings might have been reached a high point...

It doesn't mean that such a theft(crime) must be justified, but rather, they, the poor and the weak, might have to "die" with a hunger just as it is... like the little match girl died with the mockery and exclusion,  if it is their predestined destiny... to die...like so...

Well, this heartless world never forgave Jean Valjean like the rigid/strict detective Javert... In contrast, still today those who are the strong and the rich craftily/foxily get out of  "the net of the law" through their "power" and "money"(bribe)...

Hachi might have received the unforgettable mercy/love from the former master like Jean Valjean received the mercy from...  By that love and mercy, Hachi might have never been forgotten the memories of mercy and love in his heart... like also Jean Valjean was not able to forget that love and mercy in his heart...

Such a love and mercy might produce another love and another sacrifice as if Hachi's long wait and Jean Valjean's dramatic transformation...

On the one hand, humans are very selfishㅡthat is an inherent/inborn sinful nature of human, on the other hand,  humans "might" have the thing that can be transformed by love and mercy... that kind of things...

We people might know this parableㅡ "the game of the sun and the wind." They made a bet through a man about who would win. The bet was this; What if the man took off his outer garment, then the game was over.

First, the wind majestically/grandly made sure that he would win, and then blew away the man's outer garment, but yet, the man grasped his garment more tightly with his hand,  lest it should be blown away.

Second, now it the sun's turn. The sun made warm the man, and then he felt the heat from the sunshine, after all he undressed his outer garment...
The sun won.
Likewise, love might be the same as the sun's way...

Despite, what if one never transforms through the way of the sun, love, then the vehement/violent storm might need to hit against those who are still stubborn with their unchanged character like the day thunder strikes and lightning flashes... After striking the violent storm, there, the broken bottom part, might sprout a new bud... a new life...

But, what is more hopeless is,  the storm never strikes to those who are not given the chance to encounter the storm.  Even The storm might renounce them to transform...
Instead, there might be only the indifference.
